Gone

I picked up Gone at Barnes & Nobles saying ,"Hey! This looks really good!" It was really good but it defiantly wasn't flawless. Sam Temple is sitting in his class when suddenly, his teacher disappears. It turns out that everyone 15 and over has disappeared and a barrier has surrounded the town of Perdido beach. Things could NOT get much worse but of course, they do. Kids start mutating, getting powers and of course animals are mutating as well, creating talking coyotes and flying snakes.

So you can tell the plot is fast paced because using parent disappearances, powers, mutations, and huge barriers, you've got a lot to work with. There were lots of twist and turns in the book so I was glued to it. But the one main flaw were the characters. AHHHH! The characters were SO boring. Sam was really plain and his friend/girlfriend Astrid had no personality. Maybe you guys disagree but I am stuck with my decision.

Gone is the first book of a 6 book series but only the second one is out.
